The winery at Lúcar, off the Albox-Baza road at Tijola, is a great place to visit.  It offers tours and tastings plus the opportunity to buy their excellent wines at very reasonable prices.  Most of their wine is exported around the world with over 50% going to the USA, so it is quite hard to buy or purchase in restaurants.

 

 

 

 On the tour you will go around the Bodegas and see the equipment and processes to make the wines.  How the grapes are crushed and separated, fermented in stainless steal vessels (25k-60k litres) before being put into oak barrels for 6 months prior to bottling. The wine then stays at least 4 months in the bottle

 

 

 

 The scenery over the vineyards to the mountains is spectacular.  So have a good day out.

 

You can even enhance your day by stopping for coffee (& brandy) at nearby Cela where there is a natural spring which forms a communal pool akin to a village green.
